Trans Manitoba operates on Treaty 1 Territory, the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and the Homeland of the Red River Métis. We acknowledge the sacred connection Indigenous peoples have to this land and water, including the waters of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, which sustain us.
As a collective rooted in the lived experiences of Two-Spirit, transgender, and nonbinary communities, we honour the resilience and leadership of Indigenous Two-Spirit peoples, who have long held sacred roles within their nations. We recognize the ongoing impacts of colonialism, dispossession, and systemic violence on Indigenous communities, and we commit to advancing truth, reconciliation, and justice in solidarity with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
In our work for gender equity and systemic change, we strive to uplift Indigenous voices, center Indigenous sovereignty, and foster relationships grounded in respect, reciprocity, and collective liberation.
